Enchanted by the quiet
One part of the Finnish Sauna Culture is rooted in a vaccation cabin or as the Finns say mökki in the woods and therefore far away from any urban sphere. It can be a very charming and basic place, where you can spend some quality time on a long drop surrounded by thousands of mosquitoes, wearing XXL clothes from the eighties. But nowadays it can also represent a very fancy and more expanded notion of a "cabin" with all the benefits of modern society. The real essence of refreshing mökki life can only be experienced in a simple cabin in my opinion though.
The images of this series were taken in a mökki which belongs to Petteri Rajanti and his family. We stayed there for three days just listening to the silence, sweating in the sauna, floating in the cool lake and than doing it all again. Surrounded by clean air and birch trees and having long conversations about the sounds of the forest and life in general the mökki sauna can really make you forget all worries. Nothing more is needed.
